WEDDING INVITES FOR TAYLOR AND ALLIE

I had WAY too much fun designing these invites for Taylor and Allie!!!! I loved coming up with different ideas for this project and I really loved everything I got to learn from it too.  I had called Allie up and asked if I could use her pictures for some wedding announcements that I wanted to design for my portfolio, and she said yes:)  That part was exciting, but what really got me dancing was her call the next day telling me they wanted the design for their actual wedding invitations!!!!  I was SOOOOO excited!!! But then I realized that someone was counting on me for some fun invitations that needed to look professional and I wanted to make sure the bride and groom were completely happy with them!!! AHHH.  Now the pressure was on haha.  Allie and I emailed back and forth for weeks getting everything perfect.  I wanted the invitations to be fun and different.  This is how I felt when I designed mine.  I wanted the invitation to get people excited about our wedding!  But now that I was designing something for someone else's big day, I wanted to make it even better.  During their engagement shoot she told me they wanted photobooth pictures for their announcements.  Such a fun idea:)  So I went along with that theme for their invites.  I had come up with a few different ideas that were pretty different from each other so that Allie had a bunch of options to chose from.

I had also given her an option that was very similar to the finished product, but way simpler.  She liked that idea and we went from there. Everyday I would design more or take away things here and there and she would tell me what worked for her and what didn't.  I loved hearing her ideas on things.  It was fun putting both our ideas together to create such a fun detail for her big day.

After Allie had chosen her favorite design I started putting different ideas and graphics together to see what graphics, fonts, and colors would work well with each other.  Here is just a clip of one of my idea boards.  I loved the simplicity of the black and white with red details.  It kept the design clean and classy, yet the red gave it that fun, creative kick.  We decided to not have a picture on the front or back of the invitation like most, but instead placed an actual photobooth picture inside for a fun surprise:)  This worked PERFECTLY with the invitation.  I had also designed a smaller luncheon invite with a red heart on the front that made all everything really come together.  I learned quite a bit from this project.  I got to work with a few different printing companies and learn more about how things run.  I was really nervous on how these would turn out once printed, but the outcome was great:)

This project has been one of my absolute favorites.  I am lucky enough to get to design a few more for some cute brides:)  If you or anyone you know is interested in having some invitations designed you can contact me through email at jackistoddard@gmail.com. Stay tuned for more fun projects and photoshoots!!! Oh yeah....I will be having my first GIVEAWAY soon!!!! So keep comin back from more details! So excited:)

OUR INVITES ARE IN!!! A little look at our announcements:)

THEY ARE FINALLY HERE!!!!  One of the things I was most excited about during the whole planning process was designing our invites.  I had been constantly thinking if I should just let someone else design them to avoid a major headache, but I am glad I went for it.  I wanted something different. Something I hadn't seen before, and something that I could really make unique.  This is what I came up with:)  I had seen SOOO many different invitation ideas, and loved a ton of them. I just didn't know what I wanted more or less of.  Our wedding theme has a little woodland/outdoor theme to it.  Our colors are olive green, salmon pink, tan, and brown. I wanted to use a little of the theme on the invite, so I chose to sketch out the roses and leaves that will be at the reception.

Here are a few of the sketches I did for the invite.  I started out by just drawing roses and leaves and them scanned them into the computer.  I messed with the contrast and clarity a bit, then brought them over to photo-shop where I had some fun painting them.

The back was the hardest part of the whole process for me.  I wasn't sure if I should just stick with the classic look of wedding invitations, or go with a more modern/hip feel.  I was worried that those getting them might think they were a little tacky, or completely inappropriate for the occasion, (I tend to think too much about what other think of my work!) but I went for it anyway and was very happy about the finished product:)

I designed little tags for the registry and luncheon as well.  Those are strung onto black hemp which is tied around the invitation with a bow tying it off. You can't see them on the pictures, but little black eyelets where added to the registry and luncheon. That is one of my favorite parts:) So If you gave me your address, then you will be able to see that little surprise detail:) I love getting wedding announcements with something attached, I think it is so fun to have tags and little reminders included. Something so simple seems to add a lot to the whole package:) I also designed our temple invites, those are just placed inside the envelope.

This whole design process was a BLAST! I'm sure Andy is relieved that I am done with this little project.  I asked him over and over again, "do you like it?" "what should I change?" "will your family hate it?" "are people going to think it's lame?"  Ha ha! Luckily he gave me all the support and compliments I needed to go forward with it.  I hope you all like it!  If you haven't sent me your address yet and want one, write it down on the comment section below! I would love to send you one:)  Less than a month away!  YAY!

NEW LOGO? Yay...Or Nay???

I have been working on a few new logos for my business lately, but i can't figure out which is best.  I want something super simple and not too showy or intricate.  It's obvious that i have been leaning towards the brackets on the sides but i am not too sure if it works yet.  Number 3 is super simple and straight forward and that's what i love, but on the other hand it's a little lengthy.  So i need your help!!! Please let me know which is your favorite!  I want it to go with the feel and look of my work.  I put a picture below with 4 on it just to give you an idea of how most of them will look.  Please, please, please let me know what you think! I'll be changin things up pretty soon with my blog and website and need your input:) Thanks!

WEDDING INVITE DESIGNS! Check 'em out!

So i designed these invites quite awhile ago but haven't blogged about them yet! I loved the process of designing these and especially loved the turn out:) I thought they were blog worthy as well so here they are haha.   You may recognize the couple from an engagement session i did awhile back. This is Natalie and Jeremy, you can check out some photos from their engagement session HERE.  But i have really wanted to get more into the design side of things with my business, so i chose to try out the whole wedding invite design route and this is what i came up with! I chose the red, black and yellow colors because they fit well with photo i used in the main invitation.  The photograph in the 'Thank you' cards were photographed by Jeff Haslam who did an amazing job photographing their wedding!  I wanted to try and incorporated a round shape somehow so i chose to make the 'registered at' card a circle.  I love how they turned out, and i especially love the cute boy and girl kissing on the front!  This was my first time really trying out the whole design side of things with weddings and i loved it!!! I would LOVE to do more design work. So if you are needing some wedding invitations, business card designs and like what you see i would love to work with you!!!! I had a blast doing these and have been dying to do more!  I have some unique and creative ideas just flowin through my mind right now and they want to be released! hahaha.  So let me know if you are interested and shoot me an email! Anyways i hope you all have a fantastic day:)

One of my favorite holidays...

So this Valentines day was a little different then past years...but i loved it just as much! My family came down to St. George for my nephews soccer tournament! It was so great to see and hangout with them! We hiked, hung-out with the Gpa, watched soccer games, and went repelling down Dixie rock.  It was such a blast! Valentines day has always been one of my favorite holidays...yes it's true! I am not really sure why though. I guess growing up my mom always made it kinda a big deal! Always putting up valentines in the dance studio, throwing a big party, making awesome treats, and helpin us kids out with creating some super fabulous valentines day box. Really what is there not to love!!! Who really needs to always have some sweetheart on Valentines day right??? I love just making cards and gifts for people to let them know just how much i love and appreciate them.I know this holiday has been transformed
into some materialistic, expensive holiday to some people, but it really doesn't have to be that way. I love the colors that go along with valentines day, the idea of making cards and boxes, the cute and delicious treats! Yeah i'll agree with it being a woman's holiday...but gee i am 100% ok with that:) This year these are the gifts
i made for my roommates! Hope you like them... Spread the love:)

Buisness cards for Jonny-girl Jewelry!

One of my really great friends and her husband started a jewelry making company called Jonny-girl jewelry.  She makes custom made necklaces, bracelets and keychains... they are very unique, stylish and flippin awesome!  Robyn is extremely talented and this is just one of the many things she has started doing that she is great at.  Her husband Jonny helps out quite a bit with it too and may infact be just as good as Robyn at it:) These two are the funniest and happiest couple i know!  Love hangin out with um!  Robyn asked me to make some buisness cards for her for a craft fair that she sold her jewelry at. This is what i came up with!  What do ya think?
