HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Ha! I love Valentines day!!!! It has always been one of my most favorite holidays ever since i was little.  I know most people complain about this holiday and never really have great things to say about it...But i LOVE it!  I think it was my mom that got me hooked on it.  When i was little my mom taught dance in our basement and when this holiday came around she would really go above and beyond for it.  There would be valentines hanging up all over the dance room, we would play games for most of class, and then she would invite us upstairs for homemade sugar cookies.  I really thought it was so cool how much stuff she would get out and do for this holiday. I have always loved the idea of sending little notes to those you care about, and celebrating with those we love.  I know some people just dread this holiday, but for some reason i just can't get enough of it! Ha ha!  So one of the main traditions for the ladies in my family are to make homemade chocolates for all our friends and neighbors.  I can't really remember a lot about my mom making these but my sister tells me about how fun it was to watch and learn from her.  The past few years i haven't been home to learn how to make these chocolates, but this year i was!  I was so excited to get to do this!  I had always seen the finished product, but have never really been a part of the whole process, so i was way excited to do all of it!
So every year there are three main chocolates that are made.  Raspberry cordials, mints, and cherry cordials.  But last year and this year some new ones came into the mix.  We made Oreo chocolates which are shown below and reeses peanut butter cups!  AHHHH the Oreo chocolates were my favorite by far!  So the process of making these chocolates takes a few days.  You have to mix all the ingredients, wait, scrap and stir for what seems like FOREVER, wait, roll, dip, wait, and then wrap them up in cute boxes for delivery. My sister is a PRO at making this stuff!  I was impressed with how patient she was with me when i was learning how to make them:)

So this is one of the funnest parts of the whole chocolate making biz.  The delivery.  These guys are the best with deliveries haha.  They saved my life this past summer when i tried doing a paper route lol.  But once we got the chocolates all wrapped and ready to go, these guys had the drop off takin care of. They would set the chocolates on every step (60 or more houses!) ring the bell and run! Ha they loved it and we got things done fast. Aren't these guys awesome??!! So this is a new reason why i love this holiday.  I get to be a part of the big chocolate making tradition now! Don't the chocolates look good??!!

Oh, YUM!!! Those look so good. Especially the reeses peanut butter cup ones... mmm! I'm sucker for anything with peanut butter :)

And I whole-heartedly agree with you about Valentine's Day!! It's such a fun holiday, all about love! I've always enjoyed it! And kinda think the whole "Single's Awareness" tidbit is lame :) - there's so much to LOVE, it's not solely about the romantic-side of things... but that's just me :) I think all holidays are so much fun!

I vaguely remember eating sugar cookies upstairs during dance! What I remember MORE is when we made those heart-things in our 2nd grade club, haha. 'member that!? So fun!!! You're great, Jacki!!! I just love ya!! :)
